ETO Achieves Energystar Certification

ETO Doors Corp. is committed to achieving the highest standards of energy efficiency on all products. Energy efficient choices can save families about a third on their energy bill.

ETO has collaborated with the government's Energy Star Program. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized ETO Door's environmentally friendly practices with an Energy Star Certification. ETO certifies that our Glass Doors meet or exceed the prescriptive criteria established by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) and are ENERGY STAR qualified for all climate zones when selected with an Energy Star glass package.

PRESS RELEASE: January 20th, 2011

ETO Doors Announces Energy Star Certification

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized ETO Door's envirnomentall friendly practices with an Energy Star Certification.

Los Angeles, CA, January 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- While ETO Doors has been committed to environmentally conscious products and practices since its inception, it has finally been approved with an Energy Star Certification. The Energy Star Certification was designed by the EPA to recognize products that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by maximizing efficiency, and to give products an easily identifiable badge so that consumers can make environmentally wise purchases.

ETO Doors' previous recognitions for environmental stewardship include a certification by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC is an independent nonprofit, which works to promote the protection of our world's forests. FSC certifies businesses in more than 50 countries around the world, and ETO is only one of a few door companies in the United States to earn this certification.

In addition to the FSC certification, ETO Doors' Los Angeles facility hosts numerous solar panels on its rooftop. Thanks to these solar panels, ETO now independently produces all of its electrical needs. ETO’s green efforts have generated the energy equivalent to saving nearly 1,500 acres of trees, creating a significant reduction in air pollution and its resulting environmental damage.

"We are honored to receive the Energy Star Certification," said Tal Hassid, president of ETO Doors. "Our continual efforts to protect the environment are being now recognized by the EPA, and our customers can clearly see that when they buy our products, they're making a difference."

ETO Door's products have been certified by the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC).  NFRC is the recognized leader in energy performance rating and certification programs for fenestration products. The NFRC is the only non-profit organization that administers uniform, independent rating and labeling systems for the energy performance of doors, windows, skylights etc.

This NFRC report provides information on our doors' energy rating including a "U-Factor," "Solar Heat Gain Coefficient,"  "Visible Transmittance" and "Condensation Resistance."

U-Factor

U-factor is also known as thermal transmission. Here, it is used to measure the rate of heat loss through a door, therefore, the lower the U-factor, the lower the amount of heat loss. In cold climates, where heating bills are a major concern, choosing doors with lower U-factors will reduce the amount of heat which escapes through a door from inside your house to the outside. U-Factor ratings generally fall between .20 and 1.20.

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC)

The Solar Heat Gain Coefficient, also known as "SHGC", measures the rate of heat gain through a door. Therefore, the lower the SHGC, the lower the amount of solar heat gain. In hot climates, where air-conditioning bills are a major concern, choosing doors with lower SHGC will reduce the amount of heat that comes in through your doors from the outside. SHGC is expressed as a number between 0 and 1.

Visible Transmittance

Visible Transmittance (VT) measures how much light comes through a window. The higher the visible light transmittance, the more light is transmitted through the window. VT is expressed as a number between 0 and 1.

Condensation Resistance

Condensation Resistance (CR) measures the ability of a door to resist the formation of condensation on the interior door surface. The higher the rating, the better the product is at resisting condensation formation. CR is expressed as a number between 0 and 100.
